During their Machine Head European Tour 2012, Purpendicular embarked on a Small Tour with Deep Purple Drummer Ian Paice In Switzerland & Germany. During backstage meals and preparations a surprise visit from Deep Purple Bassist Roger Glover and his Girlfriend was the Highlight of the Tour. This took place and the Fantastic Z7 Club in Pratteln Switzerland near Basel. Joining the Band onstage was also not in the plans but was well recieved by a very surprised audience in Pratteln (Basel). Purpendicular became the First Deep Purple Tribute in the World to feature two Original members onstage in one night! Ian Paice meanwhile thought the whole thing funny as he was laughing at Roger having to work on his Night off! After the show a great party erupted backstage, and a great night was had by all. Vocalist Robby Thomas Walsh commented, ‘ It was wierd to look to my left and see Roger on Bass, and then look behind me and see Ian Paice on Drums….hmm’. Roger made rough plans with the Band to come to the Montreux gig & play, but kindly sent a message to Drummer Bern Welz the day before the Gig announcing he would be travelling to the States to work on the new Deep Purple album which is reported to be ‘very heavy’. Moving on to Montreux, which was a real eye opening experience for the Band as they were visiting Montreux for the first time and again are the first Deep Purple Tribute to achieve this fate of playing there. The Weather was very hot on Arrival and continued to be that way until the Bands departure. The Venue was the fabulous NED Club right in the Heart of the Beautiful Town. The Band were reported to do a lot of sightseeing the next day with long walks along the Lake Geneva Shoreline. The next PDTV features a Montreux special ,due out any day now its one not to miss covering a memorable trip to Montreux. The Band meanwhile are enjoying their Summer Break which lasts around 5 weeks before the second leg of the Machine Head Tour commences in Germany Berlin on the 17th of August. The Band are reported to be fit and ready and really looking forward to the next Chapter in their history with an Exciting Line up . It has been confirmed also that the Band will Tour in 2013 on the Battle Rages On 20th Anniversary Tour starting in Russia with Moscow confirmed on the 28th of January. The Band wish to see you all on the Road and they are touched by the brilliant Support you have given.
